Sing & Sip – Community Choir Night

04/09/2024

Join us at The Waterfront Tavern for a fun-filled community choir night, where singing and sipping combine in harmony!

With absolutely no experience necessary, you’re invited to partake in an unforgettable rendition of a well-known classic under the expert guidance of Trish Delaney Brown, Head of Vocals at Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.

This relaxed, informal sing-along is a great way to get together with friends and family and connect with your neighbours. Trish will lead the group in learning the parts of the song before a final group performance at the end of the night. This is an opportunity to participate in something truly special, not to be missed!

Begin your evening with a meal at the Bistro or a pre-choir drink at the bar before we commence the musical festivities at 7pm in the Whale Bar.  Seating is not reserved on the night and this is an over 18’s event.

This event is largely a standing style event with limited seating available on the night. While there are a few booths still available for dinner
bookings in the Whale bar, we recommend booking in the bistro next door if you would like to have dinner prior to the event. See you there!

Book your limited tickets today for an unforgettable night of song and companionship. Don’t be shy; join in the fun and create lasting memories at our unique event.

This event is a collaboration between The Waterfront Tavern, The Waterfront Shell Cove and Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.

FAQs:

Who will be leading the singing?

Trish Delaney Brown, Head of Vocals at Wollongong Conservatorium of Music will be our teacher on the night. https://wollcon.com.au/staff/trish-delaney-brown/ Whether workshopping small groups or full choirs; coaching aspiring or professional singers; or leading community sing-a-longs, Trish infuses her decades of experience and passion for singing with a joy that is truly infectious. “Trish led us expertly through the techniques required and by the end I felt quite confident and very happy with my efforts… Her friendly manner made the session a joy. ” Jenny Ferguson/ Katandra

I’m not a good singer and have no experience – can I still come along?

Absolutely! It’s all about the joy of group singing, it’s good for the soul and great fun and you don’t need to be a good singer (no solos required!). Think about singing at the footy or at a concert – you’ve got this!

How does it work?, what is the program for the night?

It all kicks off at 7pm when the group will gather in the Whale Bar to meet Trish and begin learning the song (don’t worry there will be lyrics on hand!). The rest goes like this… 7.00pm – 8.00pm: Learn the song with Trish (60 mins) 8.00pm – 8.30pm: Break (30 mins) 8.30pm – 9.00pm: Group performance (30 mins)

Is there an age limit?

Yes, this is an 18yr+ only event.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself…and maybe your glasses if you need them to read the lyrics!
